Download and activate software on the Microsoft Azure portal

All TUM employees and students are entitled to obtain software products from the Microsoft Azure portal. This describes how software is downloaded from this portal and activated.

On the following pages you will find further information about the products from Microsoft Azure for Teaching:

1. Use your existing private e-mail address

If you already have a private account (Microsoft, Gmail, etc.), you can log in directly. To do this, open the Microsoft Azure page. Enter your private e-mail address here and click on Next.



Then enter your password and click on Sign in.

2. Create a Microsoft account on the Microsoft Azure portal

Open the Microsoft Azure page and click on Create account if you do not have a private e-mail address or if you want to use the Microsoft e-mail address.


Click on Create one.



Select an email address and click Next to create an Microsoft account.



Enter the requested information and click Next.



Click on Next.



Put the image in the correct position and click on Done.

3. Log in and activate Microsoft Azure for Teaching

Open the Microsoft Azure Page and log in with your private e-mail address. On the main page, click on Explore.



Click Sign up now.



Then click Start free



On the new page select the country and enter your mobile phone number. Select either Text me, to get the verification code via SMS or select Call me to get it via phone call.



Enter this code on the page and click on Next. Select School email address as the verification method and enter one of your TUM email addresses. The verification email will be sent to this email address. Note: You can check which email addresses you have in TUMOnline.



Click on the link in the email and complete the verification.



Now you have to complete your profile. First enter your firstname, last name and your e-mail address and click on Next.
Next you can complete your profile. Enter your data. Then accept the license terms and click Sign up

4. View and download software products

Open the Microsoft Azure Page and log in with your private e-mail address. Click on Software on the left in the menu to display all software products. You can see available Windows 10 versions on the following screenshots.

You can click on Download and download the selected software product. To activate the software, please use the activation key that is displayed after clicking on View key.
