This describes how you can use the ITO's Time Machine Backup Server.

0.Conditions

The Time Machine Backup Service is available to all employees of the TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology (CIT). Please apply for the service at the ITO at the email address support@ito.cit.tum.de with the following information:

1.The most important information in brief

The URL to the Time Machine Share is for the CIT username $CIT-username:

The username and password are of course the CIT username und password.

2.Connect to Time Machine Backup Server

Im Finder unter Go auf Connect to Server klicken

Server Adresse eintragen und auf Connect klicken und als Serveradresse smb://tm.cit.tum.de/$CIT-username eingeben. $CIT-username ist natürlich die CIT-Kennung. 

Enter the server address and click on Connect and enter smb://tm.cit.tum.de/$CIT-username as the server address. $CIT-username is the CIT usernname.

Enter the CIT username and the associated password as the login name.

3.Time Machine configuration

Open System Settings.

click on Time Machine.

Click on Configure volume.

Enter CIT username and Password and click Connect.

Select Time Machine Backup Server – encryption can also be activated here if desired.

Make the selected changes here and click Done.
