  • Guests or assistants after being hired by the chair administrator
Below is an overview of the different credentials for a ficticious Max Mustermann.

2.2.2. Creating a Useraccount

Employees who have an RBG account, have access to central services of the RBG and credentials (infromatics of mathematics credentials) for the Rechnerhalle. In order for a new employee account to be generadted, a user application is required. This can be done by one of two possible ways:

2.2.2.1. Automatic generation

When a new employee of the informatics or the mathematics faculty starts working, the Servicebüro Peronal contacts the RBG directly and the user application is automatically generated.

The chairs IT-Administrator is then contacted via email, in order for him/her to confirm the user account in the StrukurDB.

Once the employee account is generated, the IT-Administrator is contacted again, and the employee can get his/her new credentials personally from the service office of the RBG with his/her official identification papers and after the user aggreement has been signed.

Or the employee can activate his account via Ucentral by signing the user guidelines and setting his password (if the LRZ ID is registered in the Database).

On this Page you can find the opening hours of our service office.

2.2.2.2. Manual generation

If the user application is not generated automatically, the chairs IT-Administrator can do so directly via the StrukturDB for an amployee.

  • The rest of the process is identical to 2.2.2.1

2.2.3. Renewal of RBG-account (credentials)

2.2.3.1. Employee

If the RBG (in.tum/ma.tum) account is linked to the TUM Account, the RBG account is automatically renewed, as long as the TUM account is active.

  • The TUMUID (LRZ-credentials) entry in the database is required for this. For new employees this entry already exists. For some older employees however, the entry might be missing
  • The chairs IT-administators are contacted via email, when the accounts are marked for deletion and can enter the LRZ-credentials in order to renew the account.
  • If the LRZ-credentials are not entered, the use will be contacted 1-2 weeks later via email and will be informed , that account will be deleted shortly. If he/she is still an employee, he/she can manually renew it on the linked website (https://ucentral.in.tum.de/cgi-bin/renew.cgi).
  • If the LRZ-credentials are entered in the ucentral webaccess within 30 days, the account will be renewed automatically.
  • If the employee does not react to the email, the account will be deactivated after 30 days and then be deleted after another 30 days.
By following this link, you can check, when your Account expires and enter your LRZ-credentials if necessary: https://ucentral.in.tum.de/cgi-bin/renew.cgi

The account information looks like this for a guest:
ucentral: Renew your RBG account - Mozilla Firefox_078.jpg

2.2.3.2. End of employment

After the expiration of the RBG-account (exmatriculation or end of employment) an email will be sent to the corresponding @in.tum.de email-account

  • The email informs the user, that emails will only be received and sent for 1 month and that a renewal of the account for a short period of time (max. 1 month) is possible by following the link in the email, provided there is a valid reason for it
  • If the account is needed in the future, there is also the possibility to contact your chairs IT-administrator, in order for him/her to convert the user account to a guest account. If the email is ignored, the account can not be renewed and will be deactivated after 30 days and then deleted another 30 days later

Exception: If an employee leaves the informatics/mathematics faculty for a limited amount of time (e.g. 6 months to 1 year) and it is certain that the employee returns after his/her hiatus, the employee can contact his/her IT-administrator for a renewal of the user account.

2.3. Guest

2.3.1 Guests without RBG-credentials

If a guest of the informatics or mathematics faculty needs an RBG account, he/she can contact his/her IT-administrator for this purpose. The administrator can then apply for a guest account via the StrukturDB.

Once the guest account is created, the chair administrator will be contacted by email. The guest can then get his/her credentials and password personally at the RBG Systemsgroup or the RBG or he/she can activate his/her account via Ucentral by signs the user guidelines and sets his/her password (if the LRZ ID is registered in the Database).

2.4. External Students  or student  assistant

A student assistant who is not studying computer science or mathematics at the faculty and works at a computer science or mathematics chair, the chair administrator can apply for a student account in the StrukturDB for him.

External students or auditors can get their ID from the RBG. To do this, please send an email to rbg@in.tum.de with the following information:

 First name,

  • Surname,
  • Date of birth,
  • Matriculation number,
  • LRZ identifier (e.g. lr89rbg)
  • Degree program,
  • Reason for the application

3. Changing of the RBG Passwort

The RBG password must be reset in the following cases:
1 when a new one is created so that the account is activated
2 if the password has been forgotten

Employees, students and guests can change the RBG password themselves via this link if the LRZ identifier (tumuid) is entered in the structure DB. The RBG account is linked to the TUM account, so this entry is necessary.

If it is not available, the chair administrators can enter it in the StrukturDB (database) for employees and guests. For students, this can be done by the RBG-Helpdesk. Please write an email to rbg@in.tum.de with the following information:

 First name,

  • Surname,
  • Date of birth,
  • Matriculation number,
  • LRZ identifier (e.g. lr89rbg)
